We must again review the use of several terms throughout AlekSIS, e.g.:

  • student vs. member / participant (in relation to a group)
    • also keeping translations in mind, mostly German (Schülerinnen und Schüler vs. Lernende vs. Teilnehmende vs. …?)
  • assignment vs. task vs. homework vs. link (assigning one itme to another in ORM terms)
  • Translation of user ((Be)nutzer)
  • (please collect more items here)

Checklist

  • Discuss all the terms and how they should be used and conceived
  • Verify and fix use in all apps
  • Update translations
  • Write guidelines
  • Add a glossary to the documentation

Dev meeting decisions:

  • Remove use of "students" for next release
  • Evaluate use of group roles for future releases
  • Evaluate use of language variants for different gendering options
  • user should be translated as "Benutzer"
